Cassida. Walter Vincent CASSIDA was born December 3, 1893, at Fontana, Kansas, and passed from this life April 22, 1936, at the age of 42 years, 4 months, and 19 days. At the age of one year the family moved to Prescott, Kansas, where Walter grew to manhood. They moved to Osawatomie November 4, 1912, at which time he entered the service of the Missouri Pacific Railroad, and has been in their service continously since, except the period from September 20, 1917 to May 11, 1919, which time was spent in the army. Sixteen months of this army service was overseas with the Sixteenth Engineers. He was married to Anna Mae FERGUSON, March 5, 1914. To this union one son was born, Walter Junior. He is survived by his wife, son, mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Edd Cassida and two brothers, Ivan and Ray, all of Osawatomie. He became a member of the Christian church November 6, 1931. He was also a member of the Osage Valley Lodge, No. 24, A.F. & A.M., the Eastern Star, A.O.U.W., Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and American Legion. Funeral services were held at the Christian church Friday, April 24, at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Luther Cole officiating. Burial was in the new Osawatomie cemetery, with Masonic services at the grave.
