James Madison DICKEY was born November 12, 1865, at Clarinda, Iowa. He passed away at his home near Coffeyville, Kansas, October 7, 1937, at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 25 days. He was the son of Joseph and Caterine Dickey. He was married to Mary Ada VINSONHALER in the year 1887, who preceeded him in death March 12, 1924. To this union five children were born, one daughter, Anna Spearman, passed away August 13, 1925, and three in infancy. One son, Bruce and five grandchildren survive him. He was remarried to Mrs. Kate VERTREES, December, 1927, who also survives him. He was a retired locomotive engineer on the Missouri Pacific Railroad, serving about 35 years in their employ. He was a member of the B. of L.F. and E. He was a resident of Osawatomie about 40 years, living the last two years in Coffeyville. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in charge of Rev. Eugene Kramer. Interment was in the Elmdale cemetery.
