                          A Pioneer Gone
  James Wright one of the earliest settlers of Miami county died at his home
in the east part of the city at nine o'clock p.m. Monday. The immediate cause of
death was congestion of the lungs, and although nearly seventy-six years of age
his strength and health gave promise of perhaps several years of life. Mr. 
Wright came to Miami county nearly thirty years ago since which time he has 
been identified with the growth of our county. Until within the past two or 
three years he was engaged in farming on his large farm near Pendelton but when 
age came creeping on he moved to town, here to end the few remaining years of 
his life. A large concourse of friends and relatives attended the funeral 
Wednesday to pay their last tribute of respect to the deceased. The funeral 
exercis conducted by Rev. E.W. Thornton were impressive and solemn, carrying 
the minds of all present forward to the time when each should be lying cold and 
silent in the icy chill of death. A son and daughter are left to mourne the 
loss of a kind father. The sympathy of a large circle of friends is extended to 
them in their sorrow.

Page 1, Column 3--He was husband of Nancy Jane (Bigley) Wright who preceded him 
in death 7 Oct 1888. He was also preced in death by two daughters; Mary 
Druzella Wright and Ella Nevada (Wright) Carroll; three sons William Calvin 
Wright, James A. Wright and John C. F. Wright. At the time of his obituary he 
was survived by a daughter Louisa Jane (Wright) Bolen-Lewis of Perryville, 
Arkansas and a son Franklin S. Wright of Miami County, Kansas.
