Here is a partial listing for the Fairview Cemetery, Cherryvale, Montgomery County, Ks. To get to the cemetery, go east from Hwy 169 through town on the main street until the end of the street. At this point, you must turn either left or right. Turn left, and in a few blocks you will see the cemetery on the right side of the street. An unusual and very nice feature of this cemetery is that it is still small enough that after every Memorial Day, several of Cherryvale's service clubs walk through the cemetery and pick up all of the decorations that are still in good shape and look nice but that have not been retrieved by the families that have decorated the graves. These are then stored in the storage shed on the cemetery grounds. The next year, a few days before Memorial Day, they return and start at the front fence of the cemetery, and place one decoration on each grave for as far back as they have decorations to cover. So if people can't get there to decorate their family's graves, at least they will not be totally forgotten. A lovely tradition, don't you think? Their cemetery always looks really nice for the holiday. Cherryvale can be very proud of this. NANCY M. P.B.
