Lieut. Ewers Reported Dead.
Parents Hear Son Was Killed in Jeep Accident.

H.V. BOLINGER of the Caney Valley National bank received a letter this morning
from Mr. and Mrs. Leland Ewers of Caney, who are now in Salida, Colo., telling
him they received word last week that their son, Lieut. John EWERS was killed in
a jeep accident July 31, in North Africa.
He was a grandson of Mrs. Belle M. Ewers of the Truby apartments, who is now
spending a vacation in Colorado with her son and daughter-in-law.
Mr. Bolinger said that the Ewers have not received official notice of their
son's death, and it is not known how they received the information. He said that
he understood the family called the wife of Lieutenant Ewers' commanding
officer, and she confirmed the news.
