Files may be printed or copied for personal use only. ELMO CLARENCE GORE, 82, died late Thursday night at the Medicalodge where he had been a resident since Oct. 27. Mr. Gore was born 4 Feb 1888 in Cowley County, Kan., to James and Abigail Gore. He married Evelyn Gladys Layton 16 Nov 1910 in Cherokee, Kan. The couple moved to Coffeyville in 1925. Mr. Gore was employed as an engineer in the filter house of the National Refinery (CRA). He retired from CRA in 1953 after 27 years of service. Mr. Gore served for nearly 20 years as the Montgomery County chairman for the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, taking the job about 1940. He was a member and past president of the I.O.U.E local 23. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Shelby (Louise) Eakins of Independence and Mrs. Ralph (Mildred) Nelson of Torrence, Calif.; two brothers, Robert of Columbus and Alfred of Oswego; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
