He was born August 16, 1896, in Franklin, Tenn., to John and Did (Anglin) Smith. On November 28, 1930 he married Laura Miller in Lyndon. She survives of the home. He was an Air Force veteran of World War I. He worked for 26 years as a guage and lease operator at Stekoll Petroleum Co. on an oil lease south of Jefferson. He lived in St. Francis for a short time before moving to Mound Valley in 1972. Other survivors include a son, Frank Smith, of Wray, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Fidel (Nellie) Leon, of Mound Valley, and Mrs. Eldon (Charlotte) Bronnenberg, of Arvada, Colo.; nine grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Mound Valley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Craig officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Coffeyville. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Sperry-McConnell-Bath Funeral Home, Altamont. The family suggests memorials to the United Methodist Church, Mound Valley. Military services were conducted at Graveside by V. F. W. of Coffeyville, Kans. Pallbearers will be Dale Tucker, Merle Hucke, Raymond Kline, Jack Gartner, Richard Parks and George Kudrick.
