Strouss well known to a host of the early settlers of Elk City and of late years of Independence, 206 South 9th street died in our city at 2:00 o'clock Monday Morning, at the age of 76 years, August 8th. She came here with her husband and family in 1884 locating near Elk City, and in later years moved to Independence and was an energentic and active worker. She is survived by one son, and a daughter, three brothers and grand and great grand children. Her son James A. and daughter Mrs. Irish of Elk City were with her when the end came. The remains were taken to the Elk City church, and Rev. Hussong a former pastor was in charge of her funeral and spoke comfortingly to relatives and friends.
