Will of Rev. Sheldon Parker Montgomery County, Kansas - Probated December 10, 1880 Know all men by these presents that I Sheldon Parker, being in ill health but sound in mind & memory hereby make this my last Will and Testament. I hereby appoint my wife Maria Parker the sole Executrix of my Estate and desire that said Executrix shall not be required to give Bond as said Executrix. I hereby devise and bequeath to my said wife and her heirs, after payment of my legal debts and the expenses of my funeral, the following Real Estate To Wit One hundred and Sixty acres situated in Louisburgh Township Montgomery County Kansas my present homestead, now, Subject to a mortgage of Five hundred Dollars. Also One hundred and twenty acres situated in Palmyra Township Douglass County Kansas after payment of legal incumbrances also the following personal property. Five head of Horses and five head of Cattle and all farming utensils on said homestead and all household furniture Cooking Utensils and other household fixtures on the said premises: In Witness whereof I hereunto subscribe my name at the homestead above mentioned this 14th day of October AD 1880. Executed and signed John J. Gregory Sheld Parker (Seal) in presence of Noah M. garst M D Wright In Probate Court in and for Montgomery County Kansas State of Kansas Montgomery County John J. Gregory of lawful age being by me first duly sworn says: I was acquainted with Shelden Parker in his lifetime. I was at his house near Elk City in said county on or about the 14th day of October 1880 when he made a will. This is the will now in court. I saw the testator Shelden Parker sign the will and heard him acknowledge it to be his last will and testament. I signed the will as an attesting witness in the presence of the testator and at his request also in the presence of Noah M Garst and M D Wright who also signed the will at the same time as attesting witnesses. At the time of execution of will the testator Shelden Parker was of sound mind and memory and was under no restriction of any kind. This is his signature to the will. I saw him write it but do not know how he came to leave off the en off of Shelden. John J. Gregory Sworn to before me and subscribed in my presence this 10th day of December 1880. E. Tinnery (?) Probate Judge Noah M Garst being duly sworn says: I am forty three years old. Was acquainted with Shelden Parker in his lifetime. Was at his house on or about the 14th day of October 1880 when he made a will. This is the will now in court. I saw him sign the will and heard him acknowledge it to be his last will and testament. I signed the will as an attesting witness at the request of the testator and in his presence and in the presence of John J. Gregory and M D Wright who also at the same time signed the will as attesting witnesses. At the time of Signing the will the testator Shelden Parker was of sound mind and memory and was under no restraint of any kind. He departed this life on the 18th of November 1880.
