She later moved to Kansas. There she was married to Philip Swerdfeger, September 22, 1875. Her maiden name was Christeen Jacobs. For a time they lived in Denver, Colorado, but for the past five years they have resided in San Dimas, California. She died May 4, 1913 at 5:50 am. just as the sun was flooding the earth with light, her spirit took its flight to enter upon the morning of the life eternal. She was the mother of six children, tow of whom are now living. Dr. E.A. Swedfeger, of Denver, visited his mother at her home in San Dimas, and hoping to render her a service and give her the benefit of the best swcientific skill attainable, brought her to Denver and placed her in a hospital and called in council surgical specialists in the hope of receiving relief and prolonging her life; but all to no avail. He then removed her to his own home where all the tender ministries of love and homelife could be hers while she lived. Her health had been failing for about two years, since January 13th, the development has been more marked. Subsequent investigation showed the cause of her death to be pancreatitis and fatty degeneration of the liver. She was an active christina woman of broad and charitable views. As she moved from place to place she identified herslf with the church that seemed to afford her the best opportunities for usefulness. Death to her had no horror; on the contrary, she repeatedly expressed her desire to close th hard struggle with disease and pain and be at peace on the other shore. She was an active worker in the Woman's Christian Temperance Union and in the Sunday School. She was buried by the side of her four babies that had gone before, in the cemeter at the old hometown, Sabetha, Kansas; and her grave was covered with the flowers she so much loved, and many of them had been planted by her own hands. Thus closed the life of a loving and faithful wife and a true and devoted mother.
