Baxter. Mrs. Baxter died at 4 a.m. Tuesday. She leaves a husband, her eight children, father, mother, brothers and sisters with a host of friends to mourn her death. The remains were interred in Mt. Hope Cemetery at 8 o'clock this afternoon, the A.O.U.W. and P. of A. lodges taking part in the ceremony at the grave. Due to the illness of the children the funeral was deferred until later. Friday, May 5, 1899 Minnie E. Baxter died at her home near Galesburg, Kansas, on April 5, 1899, after a short illness of but a few days, aged 39 years, 4 months, and 8 days. Her maiden name was Bickering. She was born in Wooster, Kosciusko county, Indiana, December 2, 1859; moved with her parents in October 1868 to Jones county, Iowa. January 13, 1881, was united in marriage to Charles M. Baxter. They moved with their family to this place in the fall of 1886. As the result of their union, nine children were given to them, five sons and four daughters, of which four sons and four daughters with the husband, father, mother, three sisters and two brothers remain to mourn her untimely death. She joined the M. E. church during the winter of 1877. . . Additional Comments: *Second obit has April 5 for death date. First obit has Tuesday, which would be April 4, 1899.
