Mr. Whitman, Inspector of the Grier Houses for the Rock Island, recently returned from a trip abroad, having traveled through Scotland while away and securing the heather while there. Mr. McFarlane says the white heather is not common, most of the blossoms being purple or red and he particularly prizes the small spring given him by Mr. Whitman, which took him back to the and of his youth. Mr McFarlane is a great admirer of flowers and shrubs, as is evidenced by the splendid care he give the small park near the Grier Hotel. Although confined to a small spack, it would e difficult to find anywhere a prettier spot than the little park.
