William J. BURKHARDT was born near Bloomington, Ill., March 22, 1857 and came to
Kansas in the early sixties during war times, with his parents, who settled in
Lynn County.
>From there he moved to Osage county, where he was married to Ida C. MILLER to
which union two children were born, Eva Edna Burkhardt and Roy Burkhardt. The
mother and son and one brother, Joe Burkhardt of Scranton, Kansas are the only
survivors. 
Mr. Burkhardt has been a continuous resident in the State of Kansas since he was
eight years old, living in and around Scranton for 29 years and in Topeka for
the past 26 years. 
He passed away at his home, 1832 Fillmore street, Topeka, Kanas, at the age of
70 years, 10 months and 4 days.
