GRIFITH'S MOTHER DEAD Mrs. Connors was Nearly 83--Funeral at Scranton Monday Mrs. Hannah Connors, mother of E. E. Griffith, of 519 Houston street, passed away Friday morning of heart trouble, due largely, it is thought, to her age. Had she lived another week she would have reached her eighty-third birthday anniversary. Funeral services will be held at her former home in Scranton, in Osage county. Mrs. Connors had made her home here with her daughter and family the 11 years they have lived here, and has lived with the family 25 years. She was born in County Cork, Ireland, and came to this country soon after the Civil war. She was a member of the Catholic church. Children surviving her, other than Mrs. Griffith, are Mrs. William Butler of Topeka and Mrs. Joseph Menzies of Vidren [sic], Ill. The family came to America in 1869 and made settlement in Pennsylvania. Later they moved to Osage County, Kansas. Mr Mullen and son, Patrick were victims of the Green mine disaster at Carbondale on May 6, 1881. The widow mother then located at Scranton. She was later married to Thomas Conner, who died in 1896. Butler of Topeka; Mrs. Evan Griffith, of Manhattan; and Mrs. Joseph Menzie of Virdun, Ill., and also by seven great-grand-children. Mrs. Connor's life was one of service and loyalty. She was a devoted mother and has left behind her an abundance of loving memories. The body lay in state at Manhattan where it was viewed by her numerous friends until Monday when it was brought to Scranton.
