Rev. A. L. Golden, of the M. E. church officiated, and intermet was made in East Linwood. The choir sang beautifully "Sometime We'll Understand." Rev. Golden read the 90th Psalm and his sermon on Hope was of much comfort to the bereaved ones. "Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior," a favorite hymn of the deceased's, was last sung by the choir. The flowers sent by friends, the K. of P. and Pythian Sisters were beautiful. About a year ago Mr. Edwards was taken seriously ill with pneumonia and for a few days his life was despaired of, but he rallied and was again about to be about the house All this time he was making a heroic struggle for health. Dropsy finally developed, from which he died. He was cheerful and patient during his illness, often joking with friends about his condition. He was ready to go with the Master called, telling his wife he was not afraid and that he had the assurance of life eternal. Thos. Edwards was born in Monmouthshire, England, March 15, 1846, and came to the United States in 1863, settling in Pennsylvania. In 1868 he came to Des Moines, and to Boone in 1870. He was married in 1871 to Miss Anna Sandwith, and after a year's residence in Des Moines, they moved to Ohio, afterwards returning to Boone. In 1880 he moved with his family to Osage County, Kansas, where he lived for a number of years, afterwards engaging in the mining business at Burlingame, Kansas. For two years he was State mine inspector. In 1908 they returned to Boone which has since been their home. Mr. Edwards was the father of six children, four of whom are living: Mrs. Maud Connor of Alton, Illinois; W. C. Edwards, Pueblo, Col.; C. I. Edwards, of Olney Springs Col., and Miss Edith of this city. All were present at the funeral except one son, C I., who had returned home but a few days prior to his death. Mrs. Mary Parks of this city, a sister, and Isaac Edwards, of Spring Valley, Ill., a brother, were also present. The widow and seven grandchildren also mourn hiss loss. Mr. Edwards was for thirty years a member of the K. of P. lodge of Osage City, Kansas, and of the Pythian Sisters of Burlingame, Kansas.
