Milo EMERY was born in Spencer, Ohio, Friday, Dec. 14, 1838. In 1839 he came with his parents to Winnebago Co., Ill. When 12 years old he united with the Methodist curch and since that time has tried to live a conscientious and religious life. In 1870 he came to Kansas with his parents and settled in Osage Co. and near where Overbrook now stands. In 1873 as a charter member he helped to organize Hurricane grange No. 35 and at the time of his death was the only charter member in full standing on the books. He became first secretary of the Grange and was also manager of the Grange and was also manager of the Grange Store for awhile. He was elected trustee of Ell(?) township and made a good trustee. He was a member of the school board for some years. Milo Emery was married to Ruth CULIEK in Ottawa, Kansas, Feb. 24, 1903(could be 1908). He passed out of this life, Feb. 9, 1928 at the hospital at Savannah, Mo., where he had gone to have a cancer on his lip(?) extracted. His widow, one sister, and a number of nieces and nephews with many friends survive. Mr. Emery was loved by all who knew him for his strength of character and loving heart. To know Milo was to love him. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. J.B.
