Finlay Killed In Auto Accident Friday. Friday morning word was received of the fatal accident of Wm. FINLAY, of Lincoln, Nebraska. Mr. Finlay had just left Lincoln on his route when about eight miles from town a truck loaded with baled hay pulled out on the highway, causing the accident. Mr. Finlay was killed instantly. Mrs. Thomas Finlay, Mrs. Beulah WARNER, Thomas, Jr., and Ray Finaly left for Lincoln immediately after receiving the work. The body was brought to Carbondale Saturday night. Mr. Finlay was one of Carbondale's most honorable young men and had scores of friends, who were sadly grieved to hear of his death. He will be greatly missed in this community. This paper extends sympathy to the wife and baby and to the Finlay and Warner families. Wm. J. FINLAY was born October 30, 1906, and died August 18, 1933, aged 26 years, 9 months and 19 days. Bill, as he was familiarly known to his friends was born on the home farm east of Carbondale where he lived most of his life except a few years spent in Lyndon, where he joined the Presbyterian church in 1918. He graduated from Carbondale high school in 1929. On June 22, 1930 he was married to Dorothy L. WARNER on Carbondale, and to this union was born one son, William Lee last Februrary. Bill moved with his family to Lincoln, Nebraska, where he was employed by the Reynolds Tobacco Company. Besides his wife and infant son he is leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tho. Finlay, Sr., four sisters, and three brothers, Mrs. Minetta BADGER, Violet and Sarah of Carbondale; Flroence BADGER, of Kansas City; Thomas, Jr., Ray and Gilbert of tghe home address. By all who knew him, Bill was known as a honest, ambitious young man with unusual ability and character. His ability with the Lincoln firm was recognized and this was demonstrated by the fact that he was promoted three times in the short time he worked for them. His sole aim was always to provide well for those dependent upon him and to lead an honest life with all those with whom he mingled. Funeral services conducted by Dr. T.C. Hinkle were held at the Carbondale Federated Church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
