Daniel GILCHRIST was born at Louisville, Kentucky in 1853 and died at his home in Fostoria, 31/2 miles southwest of Scranton, Kansas, on November 12, 1933, at the age of 79 years. When a small infant he came to Kansas with his parents who settled in Scranton. All of his life was spent in and around the vicinity of Scranton. Mr. Gilchrist had been a widower for 25 years prior to his death. He wife Rebecca Gilchrist died in 1908. Although he was the oldest of a family of eight children, only two brothers are left to mourn his loss; those two are Richard of Fostoria and James Gilchrist of Topeka, Kansas. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Tuesday, November 14, at 2:00 o'clock. Rev. J.R. Williams had charge of the services. Burial was in Scranton cemetery. Pallbearers were Edgar CRAVEN, Henry DUNN, Donald CRAVEN, Earl PARKER, James SILOTTO and Robert MURRO.
