The lodges of Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias followed to the grave; also most of our citizens. Poor "Davy" has the sympathy of every one. SCRANTON, KANSAS, FEB 23D 1886 Under the dispensation of our Almighty Father we are called upon to mourn the loss of our esteemed sister, Margaret Thomas Griffith, who was born at Millstred, Aberdare, Glamorganshire, South Wales, on the 20th day of August, 1853, and died at her residence in Scranton on the 20th day of August, 1853, and died at her residence in Scranton on the 20th day of this month and year. Sister Griffith attained the degree of daughter of Rebekah on June 9th 1885 and has been a respected and esteemed member throughout. She has also been a life-long member of the Congre- gational church and throughout her severe illness maintained the cheerful and hopeful heart of a true christian. The loss to her husband and family cannot be repaird and the vacancy in our order is not likely soon to be filled. We there- fore report the following: RESOLVED, That we have received with deep regret the announcement of the death of our beloved sister, Margaret Griffith. RESOLVED, That in her uniform kindness of heart and Christian disposition, she was a noble exemplification of the teachings of our Order. RESOLVED, That as a mark of respect to our deceased sister, the Lodge room be draped in mourning for thirty days. RESOLVED, That we hereby express our kindest sympathy to her bereaved husband an family in this their great and sad bereavement. RESOLVED, That a copy of these resolutions under the seal of the Lodge be delivered by the secretary to our esteemed brother, David Griffith.
