Albert Roy HOOVER, aged 47, a former Burlingame boy, died at his home in Topeka Tuesday night, February 9. Mr. Hoover is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Hoover, for many years residents of Burlingame. He was born in Burlingame, June 25, 1884 and was educated in the Burlingame schools, graduating from high school. For a time he worked in the office of The Enterprise-Chronicle. Later he went to Topeka where he was an employee of the state, for five years of the time in the State budget department. He was married in Topeka. His wife was a public health nurse and at the time visiting nurse of the public schools which position she has retained since her marriage. In May of last year, Mr. Hoover suffered a stroke that incapitated him for work. Part of the the summer was in the hospital for treatment and improved considerably but never fully recovered, and in the fall he returned to his home. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, the Scottish Rite bodies and the Topeka lodge No. 17, A.F. & A.M. He was kindly disposed, thoughtful and considerate of others, especially of his friends. To visit those in hospitals and to minister to the elderly by reading to them was a hobby for him. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Hoover; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Hoover, Kansas City, Mo.; four sisters, Mrs. Charles CAIN and Mrs. Emma KEIPER, both of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. H.H. CAMBURN, Chadron, Neb., and Miss Beatrice HOOVER, Emporia; two brothers, Earl Hoover, Warrensburg, Mo., and Max Hoover, Morgantown, W. Va.; three nephews and two nieces.
