LANE - Melvern Kansas USA - 1988 ~~~~%*** ~ ***%~~~~ The Topeka Capital-Journal, Saturday, December 17, 1988 p.9c Mrs. Thelma M. LANE Melvern - Mrs. Thelma M. LANE, 73, Melvern, died Friday, Dec. 16, 1988, at a Topeka hospital. Mrs. Lane was a seamstress for the H.D. Lee Garment Factory at Ottawa before she retired in 1976. She was born Feb. 17, 1915, at Ottawa, the daughter of William and Flora PIERCE LANTIS. She spent most of her life in the Melvern community, and lived 10 years in California before returning recently to Melvern. She was a member of the Melvern Church of God. She was married to Charley L. LANE on April 25, 1935, at Bentonville, Ark. He died May 13, 1976. Survivors include three sons, Harold LANE, Columbus, Ohio, Robert LANE, Ridgecrest Calif., and Clifford LANE, Lakewood, Calif.; three daughters, Mary ELDER, Melvern, Kay Hagen, Grove, Okla., and Ruth KITT, Lyndon; a brother, Richard LANTIS, Ottawa; a sister, Verna Lee WALSH, Hopkins, Minn.; eight grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Melvern Church of God. Burial will be in Melvern Cemetery.
