Hotchkiss shaft. He had not been working for over a week, but had not been complaining. When it was announced that the shaft would work yesterday, he showed uup and went down with the rest of the men. He was heard groaning, and when his brother, who was working near, reached him he was dead. Mr. McFarlane had come to Burlingame from Scotland a little over two years ago, and made his home with his brother, Peter McFarlane. He was married, but without children He was popular with his associates, thrifty and industrious. The funeral will be held at the Peter McFarlane home tomorrow. The Osage City Free Press Thur Feb 27, 1908 pg 8 DIED IN MINE Patrick McFarlane Died of Heart Failure Patrick McFarlane fell dead of heart failure while working in a coal mine at Burlingame, Wednesday February 19. Mr. McFarlane's brother Peter was working with him in the mine at the time of his death. Patrick McFarlane was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, February 14, 1862. He came to America in 1885 and settled at Burlingame. He was called to Scotland by the death of a brother and remained until 1905 when he returned He was married to Mrs. Johanna Harper in Scotland in 1902. Besides his wife and brother Peter living at Burlingame the deceased leaves five brothers in Scotland. The funeral took place from the home Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock, conducted by Fr. F. C.
