Funeral services were at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon and burial made in the Melvern cemetery. =================== Aslea Harriet PORTER was born Jan. 3, 1889, in Platte county, Missouri and departed this life Dec. 18, 1922, at the age of 33 years, 11 months and 5 days. She was united in marriage to John Harrison MOORE Feb. 7, 1906. To this union five children were born: Nell Marie, William Laverne, Jennie Lee, Johnie Wilber and Clarence Edwin. Mr. and Mrs. Moore came to Kansas in the spring of 1910 where they have since made their home near Melvern, moving in the springs of 1921 to the farm three miles south and two east of Melvern, where she departed this life. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, and three sons, her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.T. PORTER of Melvern, three brothers, Millard and John of Melvern, Will of Agricola, and one sister, Mrs. Dora PAYTON of Osborne, Kansas; a neice, Mrs. Fred BROWN of Melvern, one sister-in-law, Mrs. Arch PORTER of Kansas City, besides many relatives and a host of friends who will deeply miss her pleasant smile. She is the fifth of nine children, who have been called home. Her brother Arch preceded her in death about seven months. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, always thinking of the welfare of her family. In the community she was ever active in all social affairs and was Worth Lecturer of our Grange. In the death of Alsea, the husband has lost a faithful wife, the children a loving mother and th ecommunity a very dear friend.--Written by a friend.
