The unexpected and sudden death of J.M. PETERS early Saturday morning, May 6th, came as a shock to this community. Mr. Peters had been as well as usual Friday and that evening had visited his friends in town. Saturday morning at breakfast he was not feeling well and ate little. Later he went to lie down complaining of being very ill. A doctor was called but did not reach the home before death had resulted from heart trouble. For several years Mr.Peters served Osage county in an official capacity. In 1933 he went to Lyndon as deputy sheriff under W.H. Isaacs for two terms. In the fall of 1916 he was elected sheriff taking the oath of office, January 3, 1917, and serving two terms. When returned for his second term of office he was the only one of his party elected which fact alone testifies to his popularity and standing in the county. Funeral services were conducted at the family home Tuesday afternoon, May 9th, 1933, by Rev. C.E. Gatfield of Kansas City, assisted by Rev. E.C. Wolters of the Presbyterian church of Burlingame, and burial was made in the Burlingame cemetery. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/osage/obits/p/peters367gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ksfiles/ File size: 1.8 Kb
