William RILEY, Osage City high school boy was fatally injured and five companions, four girls and a boy were injured, none seriously, when Santa Fe train No. 11 and the Ford sedan in which they were riding collided at the Market Street crossing in Osage City early Sunday morning. Riley died at 5:30 Sunday morning at Barnes Hospital, about two hours after the accident. Other occupants of the car which was driven by Riley were Andy ANDERSON, Jr., 21, Miss Hulda STROMGREN, 17, Maria ERICKSON, 19, Katherine REID, 17 and Marguerite CHRISTESON, 17. Anderson was only slightly hurt. Miss Stromgren was injured about the chest and back, Miss Erickson received a broken leg and body injuries, Miss Reid, some deep cuts and Miss Christeson was severely bruised. All were taken to the Osage City hospital. The young folks were on their way home from a party at the Gus LEANDER home which had broken up at about 1 o'clock. The accident happened when Riley attempted to cross the Santa Fe tracks just as the traiin was slowing down to stop at the Osage City station. The car was dragged almost 200 feet, breaking a water crane as it was thrown against it. Riley was a star athlete of the Osage City high school in which all of the girls except Miss Erickson were students. Funeral services were held at Osage City Monday and burial was in Seneca, Kansas Tuesday.
