Tom Ross Had Lived In Scranton Since 1882. Funeral services for Mr. Tom ROSS, who died Wednesday evening, September 20, 1933, at Stormont Hospital in Topeka, were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church in Scranton, conducted by Rev. Wm. FISHER of Topeka, who was at one time pastor of the Methodist church here. He was assisted by Rev. J.R. Williams. Mr. Ross was born at Beck Hill, Yorkshire, England, April, 28, 187?, When he was ten years of age he came with his parents to America, and spent one year in the east. He came to Scranton in 1882 and practically spent the rest of his life here. On January 1, 1893 he was united in marriage to Miss Grace TELFORD and to this union was born one daughter, Elizabeth BRACKMAN. After the death of his wife in 1925, Mr. Ross lived with his parents in the Wm. Ross home, and continued to make that his home until the death of his father a couple of years ago, when he went to make his home with Mrs. Brackman and family. He had been in poor health for a number of years, but so well did he conceal his suffering that his death was a shock to the community. He took seriously ill Friday evening and early Saturday morning was removed to the hospital, where everything possible was done to save his life, but to no avail. After five days of intense suffering he passed away on Wednesday evening. With the passing of Mr. Ross Scranton has lost one of its most beloved citizens. He will not only be missed by the people of his own age, but to the boys and girls as well. He loved the association of young people and was happiest when with them. He is survived by his only daughter, Mrs. J.L. Brackman, one granddaughter, Maxine; two aunts, Mrs. Rose BICKERDIKE, of Frontenac; and Mrs. Sarah Ann CARR of England; two uncles Mr. Joe Isaacs, of Carrolton, Mo., and Mr. Noble Ross of ?????, and one aunt by marriage, Mrs. Isaacs of Scranton and a number of other relatives. Pall bearers for the funeral Sunday were Bryan THOMAS, R. BARLOW, Oscar LITTLE, Ernest PUNCHES, Leo BORNE(?), and James WILSON.
