Funeral services for Mrs. Ella SMITH, 77, were held in the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon, June 19, at 2:30 o'clock. The service was conducted by the pastor, Lawrence Almond, and burial was made in the Burlingame cemetery. Mrs. Smith had been in poor health for several years, suffering from heart trouble, and death came as she slept on Saturday night, June 15. Since her condition had been much improved of late, the news of her sudden death came as surprise to family and friends. Mrs. Smith had spent the winter in the home of her niece, Mrs. Howard SHIRK, in Topeka and had only returned to her home in this city ten days ago. Ella Leota MORGAN, was born in Zanesville, Ohio, March 15, 1863. She was one of seven children born to Mr. and Mrs. A.O. Morgan who located in Burlingame in an early day when Mr. Morgan became engaged in the manufacture of brick and tile. Her married to William C. SMITH took place at Lyndon on November 20, 1884. His death occurred February 22, 1927. Mrs. Smith is survived by one brother, Samuel C. MORGAN, and one sister, Mrs. Olla V. WELSH and several neices and nephews. As a wife she made her home a place of cheer and comfort. Her kindly countenance, affectionate disposition and thoughtful consideration for the happiness of all have rendered her dear to those whose pathway she has made bright. Same Newspaper: June 27, 1940 Through an error in the obituary of Mrs. Ella SMITH, published in the Enterprise-Chronicle last week, her parents were given as Mr. and Mrs. A.O. MORGAN instead of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. MORGAN. A.O. MORGAN was an uncle of Mrs. SMITH.
