Monday evening after he had returned from his work in the field Hamilton Smith was found dead in the barn by the side of his horses. He was the 8th child in a family of ten children, all of whom have passed to the great beyond except Byson, the youngest, who resides in Laton, California. He was a man of high ideals, public spirited and above all, a good neighbor, loving husband and father. While he never affliated with any religious organization his early training was in a good Methodist home which naturally inclined him to that faith. On Nov. 7th, 1884, he was united in marriage to Selah O. BAYLESS. To this union was born five children, Mrs. Anna SAXTON of Waverly, Kasnas; and Mrs. Winnie SAXTON, of Waverly; Mrs. Veda KRAMER, Mrs. Hattie CRISS and Hamilton SMITH, Jr., of Melvern. He came to Melvern in December, 1886 where he resided for 34 years. His life companion departed this life Feb. 5th, 1919. Since the death of his wife, his endeavor has been to keep the home in tact for the pleasure of his children whom he loved as only a devoted father can. At his home four miles southwest of Melvern Monday evening, Sept. 20th, 1920, his noble spirit took flight to God, who gave it. Besides his five children and eight grand children he leaves a host of neighbors and friends to mourn his departure. Farewell dear father, neighbor and friend, we have loved thee well on earth; may we all meet together in the beautiful beyond.(Contribued.)
