Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy THOMAS, 76, were held Sunday, December 8, at the City Hall in Carbondale, and burial made in the Carbondale cemetery. The services were conducted by Dr. T.C. Hinkle of Onaga, a former resident of Carbondale. Mrs. Thomas died at the home of her son, E.A. Thomas in Topeka on December 6. She came to Carbondale with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John B. CANN, from England, in 1880. The following year she was married to William H. THOMAS, well known pioneer of Osage County. She had always been prominent in church and club circles in her community. Surviving are three children, Mrs. G.L. NORTON, Carbondale, Mrs. M.E. ROBBINS, Knoxville, Tenn.; and E.A. Thomas, Topeka; three sisters, Mrs. H.A. PLATT, Manhattan; Mrs. George CATREN, Harveyville, and Mrs. Sophia VANDEGRIFT, Topeka; three brothes, the Rev. William H. CANN, Adelaide, South Australia; Eli Cann, Fallen, Nev.; and John Cann, Pittsburg, Kans.; and eight grandchildren.
