Death Comes Without Warning Last Wednesday. Funeral services for Mrs. Dan WELCH were held in the Baptist church Sunday afternoon, September 24, at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. C.E. Kinglsey. Music was furnished by Mrs. E.L. Heilmann. Burial was made in the Burlingame cemetery. Mrs. Welch's death came without warning Wednesday evening, the result of a heart attack, and was a shock to her family and friends. She had been in her usual health and enjoyed the evening with her family listening to the radio. She retired before the rest of the family, and her husband found her in a dying condition as he entered the bed chamber a short time later. Martha TULIP, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Tulip, was born at Stepville, near Scammon, Cherokee county, Kansas on April 16, 1893, aged at her death on September 20, 1939, 46 years and five months. She was married to Dan WELCH at Girard, Kansas, on January 22, 1916. To this union were born three children, Fred, Nadine, and Shirley, who with the husband, remain to mourn her death. There also survive three sisters, Mrs. Maggie FERGUSON and Mrs. Mary POWELL, of Henrietta, Okla., and MRs. Anna VanZANT of Pittsburg, Kansas, all of whom were present at the funeral. Mrs. Welch's sphere was her home. Her life's interest centered about her family and the duites of home life. She was a kindly neighbor and a friend to any in need. The sympathy of many friends is expressed for the bereaved family. The following relatives were among those who attended the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Roy Welch, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Welch of Grantville; Mr. and Mrs. John Welch and Mrs. Clyde Rice of Williamsburg; Mrs. and Mrs. Harry Strode and Miss Zona Ferguson of Kansas City; Mrs. and Mrs. Charles VanZant, Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Gray, and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Stobart, of Pittsburg; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bacon, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Post, Mrs. Jennie Wilcox, and Ira Wilcox, of Topeka.
