She died Thursday, Dec. 15, 1988, at a Lyndon nursing home. Mrs. WEISS was born Feb. 5, 1901, at Kramer, Neb., the daughter of Herman and Lena JOHNSON PORTNER. She had lived in the Vassar and Lyndon communities since 1920. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Vassar and a charter member of the Lutheran Women's League at the church. She was also a charter member of the Lyndon Sunshine Club at Lyndon. She was married to Otto A. WEISS on Feb. 20, 1921, at Vassar. He died March 13, 1961. A son, Ervin WEISS, died April 2, 1986. Survivors include three daughters, Velma SCHMUTTE, Roca, Neb., Ruby WILEY, Lyndon, and Norma VANDERSLICE, Phoenix, Ariz.; A SISTER Lydia MASENTHIN, Topeka; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Vassar Cemetery at Vassar.
