The Enterprise-Chronicle, Osage County, June 27, 1940
Crum--Ellis Wedding In Topeka, Sunday.
A wedding that came somewhat as a surprise to friends in Burlingame was that of
Miss Catherine CRUM of Lyndon to Mr. Richard ELLIS of Burlingame which was
solemnized at the home of Dr. Ormal L. Miller, pastor of the First Methodist
church of Topeka, with Dr. Miller officiating at 3:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon,
June 23.
The bride wore a green traveling suit with white accessories, and carried an arm
bouquet of roses. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. John Bessant, intimate
friends. Others present at the ceremony were Miss Stella Crum, a sister of the
bride, and Miss Edyth Larson. Following the ceremony a dinner was served to the
bridal party at the Norman Cafe.
Miss Crum was born in Lyndon, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Crum, and is a
graduate of the Lyndon high school. She attended Emporia State Teachers College
two years, completing the teachers course, and taught in the Burlingame schools
one year. The past year she has been taking a business course at Strickland's
Business College in Topeka and plans to complete her course.
Mr. Ellis, known to all his freinds as "Dick", is a Burlingame boy, born and
reared here. He completed high schol here with the class of 1931. Even before
finishing school he worked for the Oliver Grocery, and for several years
afterward. For the past two years he has been employed in the Thew Drug Store
and will continue his work there.
