EDITOR TELESCOPE,--All is quiet in the little village of Cuba. Trade is lively and people generally hopeful. Since our last correspondence Mr. J. M. Smith sunk a well on his farm one-half mile west of town in which he obtained water at a depth of thirty feed. Several wells were sunk within a few rods of this one, a few years ago, and no water found. This is encouraging to those who have previously failed. One day last week the boiler at the sawmill in the western part of Washington county, exploded, throwing hot water, steam and sawdust across the road, doing no serious damage however, as on one happened to be in front of the mill. We wish to call the attention of the proper authorities to a mud-hole one mile west of Mr. Kennedy's on the bellevill and Washington road. Why not Jefferson and Fairview townships combine and bridge that ravine? Farmers are improving the beautiful weather by sowing grain and putting things in order about the farm for spring work. The temperance question is receiving some attention in Farmington township. A temperance meeting is announced for the new school house, two miles north of this place, at two o'clock p. m., on the first Saturday in April. Died, on Friday March 19th, at the residence of Mr. Phillip Smith, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Smith. The entire community sympathize with the bereaved parents. Not dead; but sleeping.
