Mr. Blanchard was born in New York State near Buffalo, January 17, 1827 and was married to Miss Barrington, January 1, 1845. Four children were born to this union, two dying in infancy and a daughter Amanda Smith passed away last November. Henry M. Blanchard of Delores, Colo., is the only member of the family surviving. Mr. and Mrs. Blanchard moved to Wisconsin a short time after their marriage. living there until 1878 when they came to Belleville. Mrs. Blanchard died nine years ago and Mr. Blanchard continued to make his home in and around Belleville until last October when he went to the Masonic home. More than fifty years ago he became a Mason and probably no other member has lived a more consistent Masonic life. Many years ago he united with the Methodist Episcopal church in this city and remained a faithful member until the end. When a man has lived to the age of 88 years and has done his part in the developement of a pioneer country, his passing, while sad, is not without its consolation of a knowledge of a life well lived. The body was brought to Belleville Sunday morning, and the funeral held at the Methodist church at 2:30 in the afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. O. Borton. The members of the Masonic lodge had charge of the services at the grave and burial was made in the Belleville cemetery. Additional Comments: Submitter is not related and has no further information.
