She moved with her parents from Illinois to Kansas and on March 4, 1874, was united in marriage to Taylor Hammond. To this union were born eight children, six of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Lena Weld of Medford, Oklahoma, Mrs. Edith Hancock and Mrs Nellie Swafford, both of Charleston, Okla.; Irl Hammond and Ed Hammond of Belleville and Ted Hammond, who is in the United States Navy. Alice A. died in infancy and George B. died May31, 1916. Besides the children she is survived by her husband, a sister, Mrs. Anna Tucker and an aged mother both of Illinois, and eighteen grandchildren. Her mother was unable to be present at the funeral but the sister, husband and all the children were there. Interment was in the Union Valley cemetery.
