SODERBERG Mrs. Soderberg of Scandia died very suddenly at her home Sunday morning. The cause of her death is thought to be a rupture as she was seemingly as well as usual up to a short time before her death. Mrs. Soderberg was one of the oldest residents of the county, a loving wife and mother and a kind neighbor and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Monday afternoon. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved husband and relatives in their sorrow. Scandia Journal (Scandia, KS) Fri Apr 3, 1908 pg 5 Died Suddenly Mrs. Gust Soderberg was suddenly taken with a hemorrhage of the lungs ealy Sunday morning and died in a few minutes from strangulation. The funeral was held from the house Monday conducted by Rev. J. H. Craven and Rev. J. E. Johnston, and she was laid to rest in Riverview Cemetery. Matilda Brask was born in Lexon Parish Delan, Sweden, September 20th, 1845. She came to America in August 1868 and settled in the state of Missouri. She was married March 28th, 1872, to Gustaf Soderberg and they ived in Chicago for several years. Here two children were born to them, William who died at the age of three years, and Anna who died here four years ago. They came to Scandia in March 1883 which place has since been their hom. Mrs. Soderberg united with the Methodist church when she was twenty years old and has since lived a consistent Christian life. If any relatives other than her husband are living they are in Sweden and unknown.
