Born May 13, 1893, at Scranton, Kan., Miss Griffith in recent years had been living in the College Hill Nursing Centery. The member of a prominent Manhattan family long engaged in banking and other enterprises was graduated from Kansas State University and also did graduate work at KSU and Chicago University. Miss Griffith taught English and Latin at Manhattan High School for a number of years, later joining he brothers, Evan and Tom, who preceded her in death, in the family business, the E. E. Griffith Coal and Lumber Co. During World War II she served as director of USO Clubs in Junction City, Almagordo, N. M., and El Paso, Tex. After that Miss Griffith became director of a girls club under the auspices of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kansas City, Mo. Her closest relatives surviving are her two Manhattan sisters-in-law, Mrs. Evan (Virginia) and Mrs. Tom (Eleanor) Griffith, and seven nieces. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 tonight at the Parkview Funeral Home, whichis in charge of arrangements. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Seven Dolors Catholic Church with burial in Sunset Cemetery. A memorial in Miss Griffith's name has been established in behalf of Luckey High School and contributions may be sent to the funeral home.
