D. Crawford? This is what two county commissioners, two county attorneys and several other persons tried to determine yesterday. To assist them Judge J. A. Burnette, of Caldwell, member of the state tax commission, was also on hand to act as referee. Two Counties Claim Money Sedgwick and Sumner Counties claim the right to assess the Crawford estate, which amounts to nearly $30,000 in cash. Although Mr. Crawford lived in this county many years and was regarded a resident of Wichita at the time of his death, the Sumner County officials allege that he voted in that county at the last general election, and for that reason he was a resident of that county. Gathered Up The Evidence At the inquiry held today Sumner County was represented by Judge W. T. McBride, county attorney; R. T. Alexander, county assessor: Frank Zook, county commissioner, and G. M. Kimball, Mulvane. George McGill, county attorney: P. L. Arnett, county assessor and the entire board of county commissioners, represented this county. Chester I. Long represented C. Q. Chandler, administrator of the Crawford estate. Send it to Commission Evidence found at the conference yesterday will be submitted to the state tax commissioners. This board will hand down a decision in the matter as soon as it meets.
