He graduated from Rose Hill High School in Rose Hill, KS in 1938 and attended Kansas State University for 2 1/2 years studying electrical engineering. He married Fern Moore on Feb. 14, 1942 in Derby, KS. He served in the US Army Air Force from 1944-1946 with the 315th Bomb Wing in Guam. He worked for Boeing for 43 years in Wichita, New Orleans and Seattle. He was a member of the Bestor Brown Masonic Lodge in Wichita. He and Fern settled in Bellevue, WA in 1969. They were members of the East Lake Washington Audubon Society and were avid birders. After his retirement from Boeing in 1985 he took up bicycling and racked up well over 70,000 miles on his bicycle. Fern preceded him in death in 2002 from pancreatic cancer. Both will be interred at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.
