She graduated from Enid High School in 1941; Marcie was active in the drum and bugle corps. During her senior year of high school, she met the love of her life, George A. Lafferty, whom she married on September 12, 1942 at the First Baptist Church in Enid. Together, they had three children, Michael, Timothy and Ann. As the wife of a career military officer, they traveled with the family to various assignments in the United States and Puerto Rico while George was on active duty from 1940 until his death in 1958. After her husband's death, Marcella returned to Enid, OK where she lived for 34 years and raised their three children on her own. She was very proud that all three of her children completed their college education and went on to be successful in the respected fields. In 1992, she moved from Enid to Wichita to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. Marcella was well known for her love of politics and as a steadfast supporter of the military. She was highly revered for her fierce independence. Until her surgery, she was able to live in her own home in Wichita. Marcella was a very generous person who was loved by many and all who knew her will miss her greatly. She supported her children and grandchildren in their goals and academic endeavors. She was very proud of her family's many achievements. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major George A. Lafferty; siblings, Warren C. Garner, Mrs. E. Charles (Lorraine) Muncy and son Timothy F. Lafferty.
