Junior Harvey Swept Down Cimarron 200 Yards Before Swimming Ashore. Junior HARVEY, son of Clarence Harvey, had a narrow escape from drowning at the Wood ranch in the Cimarron river Friday evening, when he attempted to cross the flooded stream on a colt he was just breaking. When he reached the swiftest part of the current his colt's feet were swept from under him and the boy jumped as the horse wen down. He was carried down stream some 200 yards before he managed to swim to shore. The horse was carried about a quarter of a mile before Pete Wood, Mike Cook, and the boy's father rescued him and got him to shore. It was estimated that he turned completely over some 50 times between the Woods crossing, where he went in, and the former location of the Woods bridge, where he was taken out. Clarence Harvey, Junior and Mike cook are all employed by O.T. Wood. They were caught on the opposite side of the river from home, when the high water came and Mr. Wood volunteerd to take them around by the bridge, but they thought they could make it across the stream, and thus save him the time and trouble of the trip. Mr. Harvey went in first and had just gotten through the deepest part when his son rode in and came near drowning.
