Melvin CARPENTER, age 65, for years a resident of Liberal, died recently in Springer, N.M., according to word received by F.A. Engel. Carpenter was employed with the Bolin and Hall grain firm here years ago and fell, suffering a back injury. In more recent years he was employed in the store room at the Liberal Auto Supply Co. He went to New Mexico a few years ago. He lived alone at Springer and fell there, breaking his hip. It was several hours after the accident before he was found.
