J. Gartung Almost Instantly Killed When Frightened Horse Threw Him. Skull Was Crushed By The Fall. J. GARTUNG, who lived two miles north and five miles west of Liberal, was thrown from a horse this morning and almost instantly killed. His skull was frightfully crushed by the fall. B.E. HARNESS, who lives in the same neighborhood, was driving near the Gartung place with a load of grain and witnessed the accident. He saw Mr. Gartung coming down the road on his horse, when the horse ran away, apparently without reason, and resulted in throwing him. Mr. Harness immediately went to the wounded man, and carried him to his home, which was nearby. Dr. Huddleston was called at once but Mr. Gartung was dying and beyond medical help. He never regained consciousness. Mr. Gartung leaves a wife and two small children. H. Gartung of this city is a brother. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/seward/obits/g/gartung2245ob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ksfiles/ File size: 1.5 Kb
