Mrs. Lizzie MURPHY, 79, widow of J.J. Murphy, died shortly after noon Monday in the Kitch Convalescent home where she had been a patient for several months. She had been in failing health for several years. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. from the Miller chapel by Rev. W.R. Roberts. Burial will be in the Liberal cemetery. A native of Illinois, Mrs. Murphy came with Mr. Murphy to Texas county, Oklahoma, in 1909 and homesteaded southeast of Guymon. In 1919 they moved to Liberal where she has since resided. Mr. Murphy preceded her in death in 1945 and her son Glenn, died in September 1953. She was a member of the Methodist church. She is survived by two brothers, N.E. Loop, Pratt, and Forrest Loop, Hubbard, Ore.; one sister, Mrs. Opal HORSTMAN, Kansas City; and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Glenn MURPHY, Liberal. Same newspaper: Thursday February 11, 1954. Murphy Funeral. Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie A. MURPHY were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Miller Chapel by Rev. Willard Roberts, minister of the Christian church. Mrs. Leonard ELLIS and Mrs. Richard TAYLOR sang two hymns, accompanied by Mrs. C.B. PEDIGO. Burial followed in the local cemetery. Pallbearers were Willard DOWNING, Richard SLOAN, Forrest PELTON, Lloyd HILL, Lloy MARTENEY and Bernard BARR.
