PERSONAL INFORMATION: Donna Sanchez-Jennings, 71, died Aug. 20, 2007, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal. She was born Nov. 3, 1935, to O'Don and Ruth (Davis) McClaine, Jr. in Waterloo, Iowa. She attended the Northern University of Iowa, University of Ohio and the University of Mexico. She had a master's degree in art and education. She was a retired teacher. She taught English in Mexico City, Mexico and had taught at Seward County Community College and was the director of the Mexican- American Ministries, retiring after 12 years. She was a dispatcher for the Liberal Police Department. She had served as a Foster Parent. She was a member and former chairperson of the Professional Black Women's Association, a member of the NAACP and the Community Missionary Baptist Church of Liberal. SURVIVED BY: Survivors include her mother, Phoenix, Ariz; one son Michael Whitis, Sioux Falls, S.D.; four grandchildren, Mar-Ray Whitis, Michael Whitis Jr., Vanna Whitis, all of Waterloo, Iowa and Jamar Whitis, Sioux Falls, S.D.; three great-grandchildren, Tyliyah Whitis, Mar-Ray Ladon Whitis and Corday Whitis, all of Waterloo; two brothers, James Barber, St. Paul, Minn., O'don McClaine III, Arlington, Texas; and one sister, Gretchen Lindstrom, Phoenix. She was preceded in death by her father. FUNERAL AND BURIAL INFORMATION: Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery. Visitation will be at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
