Santa Fe. Last Thursday a terrible accident happened near the South Ranch south of town, resulting in the death of Oscar TIBBITT, a lad, aged about 8 or 10 years. He has been sent (or went of his own accord) to hunt for a team of mules which had strayed off, finding them at a neighbor's. If we are correctly informed, he mounted one of them taking the other by a halter chain it had on, started for home. It seems that he had wrapped the chain around his body and fastened it. After he had started for home and while riding along, the mule he was leading jerked back, pulling him of fthe one he was riding. Being unable to get loose from the chain the unfortunate lad was thrown under the animal's fet. The mule became frightened and commenced to kick and rub, literally stamping the poor boy to death. When the body was recovered, life was almost extinct. It is a terrible blow to the heart-broken parents, and the sympathy of the entire community is extended to them in their terrible affliction. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/seward/obits/t/tibbitt2073ob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ksfiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
