Welch, 95, died Monday, April 25, 2005, at Kindred Hospital in Westminster, Calif. She was born March 16, 1910, to Merritt R. and Mary M. Trimpa Stewart in Liberal. She married Oliver E. Welch Dec. 27, 1927, in Knowles, Okla. He died July 16, 1999. She graduated from Wilburton High School in 1934. Following her marriage, she lived in Texas and Mullinville before returning to Liberal in 1949. She taught Red Cross classes in first-aid and mother and baby care. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and 20th Century Sunday School. She was a Wide-A-Wake 4-H Club leader and member of the Wide-A-Wake Homemakers Club. Survivors include three sons, Art Welch, Canon City, Colo., Stanley Welch and wife Mary Lou, Portland, Ore., and Larry Welch and wife Eunice, Alexander, Va.; one daughter, Yvonne Alcala and husband Ralph, Huntington Beach, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, a grandson, one brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Miller Chapel with the Rev.
