Barnes, 65, died Friday, Oct. 28, in Wichita, Kan. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Turpin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dianne Izquierdo officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Liberal, Kan., by Miller Mortuary of Liberal. Mrs. Barnes was born May 6, 1940, in Liberal to Lester and Fern Cassady Platz. She married Carl L. Barnes on June 23, 1957, in Turpin. Survivors include her husband; two sons, A.V. Barnes of Liberal and Carl V. Barnes of Newkirk; a brother, Larry Platz of Emporia, Kan.; and two grandsons. The family suggests memorials be to Corn Inc. and may be sent in care of Miller Mortuary, 908 N. Lincoln Ave., Liberal KS 67905.
