He was a salesman in the oil field, having worked for Orbit Tool and Supply Inc. starting in 1972, and later becoming the owner and operator of the company until 1992. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 50 years and a member of the Donut Shop Coffee Club. He was preceded in death by five brothers, five sisters and one daughter-in-law, Mimi Berens.
