He attended school in Plains. He was a life long farmer in Seward, Meade and Haskell counties. He also worked construction on the Liberal Air Base, Light Grain and Milling and Roberts Machine Shop. He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church. He served on the financial board of the building of a church school in Liberal. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus of Plains. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters and one great-grandson. (2) Joe was born to Matt and Odela Drietz in Liebenthal, Kansas, and he attended school in Plains, Kansas. He was a life-long farmer in Seward, Meade and Haskell Counties and worked construction at the Liberal Airbase, Light Grain & Milling, and Roberts Machine Shop, retiring from farming in 1996. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal servng on the financial board, and Knights of Columbus in Plains. On Nov. 12, 1935, he married Catherine J. Schield in Plains. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, three sisters, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, and one great-grandson. Rosary wil be 7 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2005 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2005 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Liberal, Kansas.
